Genuine 19th-century steel engraving capturing Renaissance-era Eastern diplomacy. Titled along the bottom margin as “Réception d’un Ambassadeur de Venise à Constantinople”, this is an engraving after the historic masterpiece by a follower of Gentile Bellini c.1511.
Venetian diplomats in long robes receiving a formal ceremonial welcome before an Islamic arch, framed minarets, domed architecture, merchants, exotic animals, etc.
